Stage 1 Monster Truck

2021 Monsters of Detroit

Stage 1 celebrates the very roots of Monster Trucks. This takes us back to the days of slow, bouncy, and beautiful show trucks. This class can run even if only 1 truck shows up as an exhibition between rounds....if 2 or more show we will race them. Here's the class build specs...
1) Solid axle monster trucks ONLY. Absolutely no independent suspensions can be run no exceptions.

2) No twin plate or tube chassis allowed, unless the top of the chassis runs a full length rail. The plates can ONLY be used for gearbox and ladder bar mounts.
3) NO oil shocks allowed. Only air bags, leaf springs or coiled friction dampers are permitted for this class. All non leaf spring friction shock trucks MUST use a minimum of 2 shocks per wheel. All 8 shocks must have the coils springs installed. You MAY use grease on the shock shafts, however they can NOT have oil. This helps the trucks to behave closer to the real stage 1 trucks by being super bouncy. If running airbags they must be full. No links permitted on stage one, however ladder bars are permitted.
4) 27 - 45 turn brushed motors only. Sealed OR open endbell motors permitted
5) Non programmable brushed ESC only. If you have a programmable ESC it will have to be set to blinky mode prior to competition....if not...it will not compete....however can still be in the exhibition round.
6) 2s Lipo or 7 cell Nimh maximum
7) No cut or scooped tires. Stock Clod, USA1, Juggernaut, Jconcepts Firestorm, Jconcepts Golden years, or IMEX pullers only. Jconcepts Fling Kings are permitted....but ONLY if run with dual wheels on all four corners, using Jconcepts 2.6 Krimson dually wheels. NO EXEPTIONS!!

***EDIT*** Jconcepts 2.2 Midwest tires are NOW PERMITTED for the Stage 1 trucks. Midwest tires MUST be mounted on Jconcepts 2.2 Ranger wheels in order to participate. These wheels and tires represent are made to represent the earliest Monsters running 48" Goodyear tires.
8) 2 wheel or 4 wheel steering steering permitted, though 4WS is strongly encouraged.
9) Any car or truck body is permitted up to 1994 model year. You can spend time detailing here as its not very likely you will damage or roll the truck over. Sharp paint is encouraged. Along with the vintage details such as light racks, flip open beds/hoods/bodies, flying flags, bright chrome and full lighting systems. Though none of that is required.
Stage 1 trucks were works of art. Now it's your turn to make your own representation of the glory days of the Monster Truck industry. Your Stage 1 build CAN be an original....We dont force replicas. Be creative!!
